Dear Parents,
My goodness, this is some odd "winter" weather. Now, I DO enjoy it, but I don't want the snow and cold come March. I suppose that we don't have a choice in that. At the time that I'm typing this, I'm wondering what the Old Groundhog is going to do! Happy Mild Winter!
Our Jesus Time was the baptism of Jesus. See what your child can tell you about when Jesus was baptized. WHO baptized him? WHERE? What happened after He was baptized? Our Bible words were: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Ask about the dove.
Our letter this week was brought to us by QUACKY QUACKERS. We learned that anytime a word begins with "Q", it is always followed by "u"-"QU" always goes together. On our papers, if it begins with "q", we write "qu". We also learned about a "?" and have had practice asking a question. We also have been exposed to quotation marks, and are learning how to use them. This will be on going, as we will have some tasks soon where we are finding the quotation in a sentence. We added these words: nap, yellow and Tig. Please continue to return the READ sheets (the ones with a signature), and I'm suggesting that you keep these, and continue to practice the circled words. These will come home in Friday folders. We added some more words to the "squiggly" box on our board. These are words that we've been exposed to, we've worked on sounding them out, and will soon be on our word list. In our squiggly box, we have Sam, map, and sap. We also saw how we could read words with the same endings-like map, nap, lap, cap, sap, zap, gap, etc. This is an excellent activity-for home also. We're SOUNDING OUT many more words. We'll still refer to them as the SIGHT WORDS, but we're using those sounds more and more.
Our Math continues to give us some practice with the shapes. BUT, we are going to begin doing some simple addition. We'll do this with pictures and manipulatives.
Congratulations to Alex M who earned his certificate for 450 books read, and Bob for 150 books! Way to go! Lookin' forward to more lists to come in.
Happy Sacks will come home on Monday with Jeremiah, Khaia, Lauren, and MacKenzie. We'll be on the look out for something special beginning with "R".
Happy 6th birthday to Lauren and Kailee. We pray that you will continue to walk with Jesus as you grow in him. THANKS much for the yummy treats! What a fun week.
***CEREAL BOX DUE MONDAY.***
Our Christian sympathy is extended to Nataley's family. Her great grandfather died on Wednesday. They will be traveling to Florida. Keep them in your prayers during this time, and also for a safe trip to Florida.
Your child brought home a baby bottle on Wednesday. I'm sorry that there were no directions. This came from our chapel. During the month of February, we are trying to fill the bottles with coins. They are to be returned on February 29. The money goes to needs of babies at Lutheran Children's Family Services. We encourage you to participate, but do not return until the 29th. THANKS!
Have a great weekend. Wonder if we'll be building igloos.
HOPE TO SEE YOU ON SUNDAY.
